Research the place that you are planning to visit on your hiking trip. Before you set off into the woods, make sure that you have a pack prepared with food like energy bars or trail mix to keep you moving, plenty of water, dry, protected matches, a space blanket to keep you warm and to signal for help during the day, an LED flashlight or LED lantern for use at night, a compass, and the best survival knife that you can find or afford.
If you start early then when the time comes for you to head out you just need to put together all the items and start packing. New sights, sounds and experiences await them when they go camping, rather than looking at the same four walls, or the same old television. Climbing works the arms, shoulders, trunk and legs of the body.
Carry sufficient bottled water and also carry along a few water purifying tablets for any emergencies. Favorite fruits and veggies that pack well include carrot sticks, celery, raw broccoli and raw cauliflower. Make sure to bring along a first aid kit complete with sterile bandages, gauze and disinfectant.
Should the lantern get knocked over or get too close to flammable materials it could start a fire. You will need a flashlight so you can see your way around after you've put off your campfire. Once you have your basic gear, it lasts for a good bit of time.
So always be prepared and try to get into shape before you take on to big of a trail. Get out there and try it!
